Kinder Bueno TVC Malaysia 2013

Just few weeks ago, I was selected to be in a Kinder Bueno TVC shoot for Malaysia, Singapore & Thailand. Here’s a photo diary of a three day shoot!

Whenever it is a music TVC or dancing is involved, rehearsal is needed for the talents and extras few days before  the shoot date.  This one, was easy because it was freestyle all the way.

Shoot day 1

Make up started at 7am. Look at me, all chirpy and smiling.

Make up done, wardrobe changed and I was ready to go.

Here’s how the first set looked like. We were in an old mini bus. The first few rows of seats were taken out and they changed the mini bus to a funky bus! Kudos to the art department guys!

Grooovy! That’s Ryan, our main talent for Kinder Bueno and he was rehearsing his lines coz he had to lip sync to three languages, Bahasa Malaysia, English and Mandarin. Initially he was asked to lip sync in Thai as well, but they cancelled it. God had mercy on you Ryan!

The buddies, Mozart, Tracey and me. Wake up Mozart! haha

We were all cramped in that mini bus, crews, talents and extras for at least good 5 hours. And oh not to forget, SPOTLIGHTS! It was like sitting in an oven, roasted!

And that was me after quite number of takes. Why? Coz I was starting to fall sick! Yes, first stay of shoot and I fell sick! Magnificent! My eyes kept tearing, I had running nose non stop and it was SO ANNOYING coz it ruined the make up god damn it!!!

The next location was at Lot 10 and we got there at about 3pm. It took about 2 hours for the crew to set up the set and I took the chance to take a nap. I was so sleepy that I fell asleep while seating. And I felt so much better after that!

While on set, there’s a lot of waiting. During these times, I either eat, sleep or read. I came prepared. LOL. My finals was right after this shoot, so I brought my notes for me to read. And yes, it happens ALL the time that I had to study on set. Nothing new for me.

That was pretty much it for day 1 and it ended at about 10pm.

Shoot Day 2

Call time: 6am. So I thought I would feel better the next day, and I thought wrong! My eyes was swollen and I needed more sleep.

I felt like dying. How to survive the whole day…….. X.x

At this point, I can’t just call in sick. They can’t find a clone to replace me. Instead, I just have to be strong and go through this like a champ! haha. Just put that smile on yo face!  Thanks to the power of make up, I don’t look sick at all. Damn cool right? But deep inside, I felt like crap!

All in! The client, production crew and talents! We waited for the sun to come out to have this effect.

This scene was taken at about 12pm so the sun was literally right above our heads. And on top of that, the spotlight was shining right at us. It was scorching hot.

It was challenging because dancing was involved, the BBoy dancers, skate boarders and the BMX guy had to do their stunts as well. Everything has to come in place in one shot. Although it was hot, takes after takes, we still manage to laugh at ourselves doing the same thing over and over again. Well, at least, among us.

After this hallway scene, shoot day 2 ended at about 830pm. Yay! I went back home to sleep ASAP and recharge! Praying hard that I will feel better tomorrow.

Shoot Day 3

Call time: 5am. My eyes stopped tearing and I felt SO MUCH better. Oh my god, it was a relieved. Now I can smile even more! Haha

Let’s blast it out!

“It’s Friday, Friday. Gotta get down on Friday”

Our happy faces when we got the fan blown to us for good 10 minutes… Haha

The hot seat.

Are you ready?

11pm: keeping track on how many scenes more to go.

Aaaaaand it’s a wrap! For me… Coz the rest of them had a print ad shoot the next day and I, had to sit for my final exam!

Introducing the Director for this TVC, Brad. It was the second time working with him, the first time was for Umobile and it’s always nice working with someone that has a sense of humour. Though he looked pretty serious in this picture. LOL

This is Wai, Assistant Director. Can you believe that the first time we worked together was when they were all still using film to shoot? Boy, that was ages ago!

Boracay Dreamtrip 11-16 October 2013

I have not blogged for a while now because I’m occupied with so many things! School assignments, in the midst of moving to my new house and also building my own business. Yes, stay tuned to see what I’m currently working on. SUPER BUSY. Despite all that, I always make time to travel. Oh I love travelling. Especially now I’m in Worldventures, I TRAVEL MORE!

About a month ago, me and my best friend, Aliana went on our first dreamtrip, which was to Boracay! I’ve always wanted to go there for their cliff diving. Damn I was so excited, I am still, and I cannot wait to show you all the fun and exciting photos!

It was an amazing trip! We stayed at Boracay Regency Beach Resort & Spa, 5 star hotel inclusive of Island hopping by sailboat, a guide and lunch, daily breakfast and exclusive dinner for US$339 per person. For this trip, I only spent about US$750  (hotel, airfare and some shopping). I’m a happy girl!!! Not only that I got the best deal, I also met new friends from all over the place! I really had a great time :’)

Dreamtrip #1 and more to come!

Women wearing high heels

A few days ago, Tuesday (17.09.2013) to be exact, I was invited to be a guest on a women’s talk show on national television (NTV7) called Bella. The topic discussed on that day was about women wearing high heels and the repercussion from it. I as a talent, wear high heels for long hours when I’m on set. What can I say, I’m also obsessed with heels! Besides me, Christine (a mother), Soraya (a yoga enthusiast) and Dr. Sam Hunter (a chiropractor) were also interviewed by Daphne Iking.

Most women that wear high heels often experienced discomfort on their lower back, knees and ankle. Well, this is all due to the pressure that is brought forward to the front of the feet while balancing body weight. This causes the body to be misaligned, thus in the long run this can cause severe lower back and leg pain. Dr. Sam, explained more about it and how it can be treated on the show. Do watch it here to know more about it, episode 181. I apologize as it is a hassle that you are required to register as a member, and the site takes a while to load.

Special thanks to my darling cousin Nawal for putting me up on the show! And for the photos!

I’m just too crazy over shoes….

P/S: If you are looking for a chiropractor to seek for treatment, go look for Dr. Sam Hunter! His price is reasonable!

Baju Kurung Dress

I’m currently in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam and this is an impromptu blog post. My dearest aunt gave me this beautiful baju kurung from Dubai and I decided to blog about it! My fiancé is not here with me on this trip, hence I’ll be taking my own photos! I guess this is the chance for me to write a post from my phone. Note that the photos were taken from Galaxy Note 2 and it was all taken by me (self-timer). So mind the angle because I’m really not good at taking photos.

Baju kurung is a traditional Malay wear for the ladies in Malaysia. What I have here with me now is a modern baju kurung. What I love about it, some of the modern baju kurung is so beautiful and stylish that I can wear it out as a dress. Well, not all, because some will really look weird. So you must choose wisely which you can wear out as a dress and which must remain as a baju kurung!

The details and cutting of this baju kurung is simply gorgeous!

Is it a YAY or a NAY as a dress?

Have a great Sunday!

Work done in Q1 and Q2 2013

It’s already August now and I wanna share what I’ve done for the past half year! It was just a few because I was away for quite long and also been sick. So here goes!

In February, I did a print advertisement for Old Town White Coffee. I’m on their menu!

I look…….. different. LOL

Next, in April, I did a TV commercial for a biscuit brand called Slai O’lai that is air in Indonesia. So funny that I had to dress up in pineapple uniform.

Right after I was done with Slai O’lai shoot, I had another TV commercial for Umobile. Boy, it was fun! I had lines that I had to say in three different languages, English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin. Check it out!

Print ad for Umobile.

Me and Ezra

You don’t see this in KL at all because this was mainly for Kelantan and Terengganu (East Coast).

I also did another campaign for Umobile later in June. Also in three languages.

That’s all folks!

Eating right during Ramadhan

Malaysia is not only well known for the multi-racial country, but also many kinds of delicious food! Especially in Ramadhan month! Why? Because during fasting month, there is always bazaars in every district. And they sell tons of mouth-watering food! So many choices that I simply can’t decide what I want and I end up getting a lot of food just for myself. Greedy ey? :p

What should I get? There’s so many choices!!!

Roti Jala

Kebab anyone?

Nasi Tomato! OMG

Sotong bakar

Ayam bakar

Asam Laksa

My favourite, tepung pelita

I was outta ma mind

Yes, there are kinds of food that you simply cannot resist. But that doesn’t mean it’s alright to eat so much at one time or simply a lot! Let me share you some tips, that is also useful for our daily lives.

When we break fast, we tend to start by drinking or eating something sweet. Well, maybe because it quench your thirst, other than that, it does nothing to you but only adding up your calories count for the day! Sugary drinks may have hundreds of calories and they don’t make you any fuller. So it’s best to drink plain water or calorie-free drinks like tea. Eating something sweet, I meant by all those kuih-muih, it’s fine to have it once in a while, but not every day! I know it’s puasa month, but you gotta chill k. LOL. Start with fruits or dates which are inherently high with carbohydrates.

After a whole day of fasting, some of us are just so darn hungry, we head straight to the main course. Some, just take it slow and easy or 5 minutes break for praying after they’re done break fasting with drinks and dates. Well, for those who eats rice as high as mountain (or makan macam tak hengat dunia), take it easy and remember that your stomach is as big as your fist! Don’t expect to stuff 10 times that amount of food into it without negative consequences. Something many people don’t realize is that your stomach will stretch when you’re used to eating a lot. If you only eat small amounts of food at a time, your stomach won’t ever stretch out like it does when you gorge yourself on a big meal, and then, with a smaller stomach, it won’t take as much to make you feel full. You can do this by only taking small, right-sized portions of food onto your plate, and when you’re done with that, sit back and feel whether or not you’re still hungry. Give yourself 10 to 20 minutes. If you really are still hungry after that time has passed, take a tiny bit more. However, if you give your body time to signal your brain, you’ll find that you’re usually not still truly hungry.

Eat slowly and chew properly. Chew your food till it has turned mush. Even I have to remind myself that because I’m always on the go. Try to take small bites and chew 4-5 times. Remember that it takes 15-20 minutes for your satisfied feeling to get to your brain even if your stomach is bloated and regardless of how much you eat. Give your system time for the digestive and hormonal processes to take place so that the signal gets to your brain! Eating slowly helps to keep the amount of food you’re eating small until you feel the satisfied feelings.  It also prevents you from gorging yourself, and gives you more time to accurately reflect on whether your stomach feels full yet or not. It takes about a whole 15-20 minutes for your stomach to send the message to the brain that you are full, so you could be eating 15 minutes more than your body wants. Eating slowly prevents overeating and will get you satisfied with less calories without feeling hungry or deprived.

So there you go, eat right ya’ll!

We kinda went overboard. Lesson learned!

Selamat Berpuasa and stay healthy!

Eczema Attack

I have not updated my blog for weeks now nor do I go out to socialize with people. I’ve been suffering due to my eczema for about 4 weeks now. Eczema is a form of chronic inflammation of the skin. I have red patches of rashes from tip to toe,  itching and dryness, crusting, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing, and bleeding (ALL!!!!). My eyes are swollen pretty bad that I barely can open my eyes, my neck is the worse and also other parts of my body. No pictures taken because I’m simply not ready for that. This really affects my lifestyle, because with this condition, I just wanna stay home and hide from everybody. Then how am I suppose to work and meet people? And when I read or do my school work, I can’t concentrate and easily distracted because it ITCHES LIKE MAD!!!!

Eczema is believed to result from a genetic defect and weak immune system. I often get sick very easily. Eczema will permanently resolve by age 3 in about half of affected infants. In others, the condition tends to recur throughout life. Unfortunately, I have eczema since I was a baby and it seems like I will have this for a lifetime! It comes on and off, but this time is pretty chronic. The condition is not contagious and can’t be spread from person to person. There is no cure to it, just that I have to manage it with medical treatment and by avoiding irritants. By means, I have to avoid seafood coz I’m allergic to it. Trust me, I was trained since I was young not to eat seafood so, I have absolutely no cravings for any sorts of seafood. Well, I can only eat Salmon and cod fish. Seafood, no biggie. BUT, sambal belacan or asam laksa. I cried and beg my mom for it when I was a kid. Most malay food has  sambal belacan (contain dry chrimp) in it, and Asam Laksa, most of them is cooked with mackerel fish. Pretty sad case. Other irritants would be type of soap or lotions I can use, my type of soaps and lotions are those with no chemical and no foams. And these types of soaps and lotions are not cheap at all. Probably cost 4 times than any normal soap. I’m high maintenance NOT by choice. (Don’t know whether I should laugh or sob about it coz I spent so much just for my skin already!)

I can’t be feeling too hot or too cold, as it may cause an outbreak. Stress may cause the condition to worsen. OMAIGOD!!! How la?!

This is really suffering, I don’t think anyone understand how I feel unless you’re experiencing the same thing. I feel really low about myself at this moment that I just don’t want to do anything at all. It’s depressing. But I have to keep moving forward and be positive. I know by just sitting and crying won’t do a thing.

Yes, I’ve seen many doctors and specialist. They all gave me the same thing which is steroids. This is one thing, that I would much want to avoid. I’ve been taking this since I was a kid, it only helps for a while and it aggravates even more in future.  So, I had enough of that and chose to go for natural remedies. The only thing with natural remedies is that I have to be REALLY patient because it won’t work overnight, it will take about at least two months till you see the result. I’ve tried Chinese herbs but I kinda gave up coz of the boiling process. I do still take herbal supplements like Olivenol. I’m trying other methods that might help my eczema, I will blog about it after two months! I hope and pray this will be over soon.

I cannot give up!

The Making of Harry Porter

Let me show you the Warner Bros Tour London- The Making of Harry Porter!

Gosh… By just typing it out to tell you how it went, excites me! Yes, it was really that AMAZING!

The Entrance

I went there to see behind-the-scenes and experienced the magic that has gone into creating the most successful movie series of all time. The studio just recently open last year 2012 in March 31st. You have to pre-book the tickets in advance by selecting the tour times via or through approved operators. This place was quite far away from the city. It took me about an hour by train and few minutes from the train station to the studio by bus that the Warner Bros provided.

Getting in…..

Let’s get started!

Awww… Harry Porter’s room under the stairs right before we enter the studio….

Shall we begin?

I present you Hogwart’s Great Hall!

Pine house tables that were built for the movie

It felt as though I was in the movie…

Professor Gandalf

These are the real costumes that they wear on set…

Severus Snape

So fierce!!!

Hagrid! He was HUGE! He is portrayed as being 8 ft 6 in (2.59 m) in the movie. So that’s why only managed to capture his janggut….

Alastor ‘Mad Eye’ Moody

Which team are you in?

That was the 1st phase of the tour… As we enter there were a lot more stuff that made me awed. The tour could take up to 3 hours.

Chocolate bunny……………….

The vanity mirror

At the wardrobe set, I see many sentimental stuff. Like heart shape note or sticky notes… I can feel the fun they had on set while working together for months. Even for me, a one week shoot for a mini series (Khabar Cinta), we all bonded so well,  so close, we were like a family.

In Harry Porter’s dorm

The invisibility cloak! I want!

The invisibility cloak

The eagle to Professor Dumbledore’s office

Professor Snape’s Potions Classroom

I’m amazed on how the movie was made… the whole production team! It took them months to build the set and they were so precised on everything!!! WOW!

I love all their special effect props! Like the moving stirrer in the potion pot!

The animals that was in the movie was all trained…. Aiyo.. so cute laaaaa……

That was the 1st half. Then we walked out for F&B. It was freezing cold outside!

“Let’s celebrate with butter beer!”

We both shared a butter beer coz it was too damn sweet!

Erm… I can’t remember what this was >.<

Me on The Hogwart’s Bridge!!!

Here comes the other half of the studio. This part are all the creatures, monsters and  masks.

Shopping for wands?

Finally, the enormous Hogwart’s school model that can be viewed from two floors.

Before the tour ended at the Harry Porter shop, I walked through the wand shop….

Can you imagine that all the wand boxes were handmade?!

I didn’t get to buy chocolate frog or Harry Porter wand or the cape coz they was SO MANY KIDS queuing and buying like the whole entire shop. LOL.

Nonetheless, it was AWESOME! I love behind the scenes! I was totally intrigued by the whole entire production!

Paris with Love

While I was in London last month (May, 2013), I decided to go on a trip…to Paris! I took the flight from Heathrow Airport and landed in Charles de Gaulle Airport by just one hour plus.  When I arrived at the airport, I headed straight to the tourist counter to get what we needed for the whole trip like maps and sim card.  I also got the unlimited museum passes and three days passes for the public train because  it was so much easier to get it there,  no queuing needed or searching for the ticket booth. SO CONVENIENT!

But, it is only if you’re in Paris for museum trips because the ticket that was sold is UNLIMITED. Yes, no queue and all but we absolutely had no time to visit SO MANY museums. haha. As for the train, it was REALLY REALLY DODGY and dirty. It was also dangerous to get on the train after 10pm because the chances of you getting rob are very high (especially Asians). Taking a taxi wasn’t that expensive after all. Oh well, now we know.

I decided to stay in the Montmarte area where it is not so touristy spots. The only thing was, not many people can speak English. So you gotta know your way around. This area was built on the slopes of hill and not too far away from the city. I stayed at Hotel Lumieres, very clean, good services and at an affordable price! No complain!

This was taken when I was walking up the hill in Monmarte area

After checking in, I walked from the hotel to Sacred Heart Basilica of Montmartre.

The view of the city

The Heart of Basilica

One thing you must be very careful in the tourist spots are those black Africans who targets tourists and Asians especially. They tried to sell us like those friendship bracelet and next thing you know, we got mugged. 50 euros. Just like that. Anyhow, good thing we’re safe and not harmed by those pricks.

Since we got the three days passes, we moved around by train during the day and taxis at night. Next stop was supposed to be Moulin Rouge, but unfortunately, it was fully booked.

Moulin Rouge

I went online a month before the trip to buy the tickets and it was already sold out. This is a must show to go… But no luck for me. I only got the chance to take photos outside. Okay la. Can la.. Not so sad.
More important, was the Eiffel Tower! Again, I got our tickets online way ahead before the trip so that I don’t have to queue coz the line was just bloody ridiculously LONG. So its good to be prepared.

At the Eiffel Tower

I swear it was so freezing cold. Paris was about 15 degrees during the day and it was really windy. Imagine up there!

After Eiffel tower, I walked around Champs-Élysées to take more photos.

It was raining that night and COLDER!

I was there during the day too, which was the next day!

For this!

I also spent some time at the park in Parc des Buttes-Chaumont.

Lovely weather to be in the park

How nice to spend a day like this!

Not forgetting, the place that I had almost no time to go to before I head back to London. THE MUSEUM! haha. When you’re in Paris, you also must go and see The Mona Lisa which is located at the Louvre.

At the end of the entrance inside the museum

Macam pro

Despite all the unavoidable incidents that happened, it was REALLY a great trip. I had a wonderful time in Paris.

Au revoir!

Paris with love

Summer Came Late

Right after I was done with my final paper for last spring semester, I packed my bags and flew straight to London. Not even a day I spend my summer holiday here in KL. See how excited I was?

What I packed for my summer holiday to London, was of course, shorts, t-shirts and mostly summer dresses! I just could not wait to show off my dresses with that perfect weather. Not too hot and not too cold. Just nice! BUT NO. When I arrived in London, it was so COLD! I can barely feel the heat from the sun and it was nothing like summer! The temperature was about 14 degrees and sometimes down to 7 degrees. Gone la, how to go for picnic like that? People will be thinking what is wrong with this Asian if I insisted to go for a picnic.
The weather was unpredictable and a lil cuckoo. It can be sunny for a day and breezy cold the next day. So you really have to check on the weather forecast before you go out. But sometimes, it wasn’t that accurate. When it was about 16  degrees, I took the chance to wear one of my dresses. It was fine until a while later when the wind started blowing and it was FREEZING COLD! OMAIGOD!!! I had to bare with it till I got home and I told myself just forget about the dresses godammit! Hahaha.
After that, I knew I could not take the cold weather, I wore thermal inside, thick jacket and boots most of the days. There was this one time when everyone was wearing shorts and t-shirts, I was the only one wearing thick jacket and boots. And when I was wearing shorts, they were all wearing thick jackets. Asian sesat ni……

The sun started coming out only a week before my holiday ends. When I was JUST about to enjoy the weather! All this happened because the easterly and north-easterly winds that brings very cold air over the UK from northern Europe and Russia. According to the UK observations, an integral part of the negative phase of the North Atlantic Oscillation is a southwards shift of the North Atlantic jet stream, which acts to steer the storm track across southern Europe and the Mediterranean, away from its usual trajectory over the UK. So while the UK has been very cold, southern Europe and the Mediterranean has had unsettled and wet weather. In other words, its due to global warming and this are the effects of climate change on the weather.

Goodbye London.
